Microsoft Sweden – monthly Lync Tech Community Call

Hi all, post is in Swedish since this will be a local monthly community tech call for the Swedish Lync customers and partners.

Microsoft kommer från och med april att hålla ett Lync Tech Community online call en gång i månaden där vi diskuterar olika Lync-relaterade ämnen. Det kommer hållas en kort presentation av ett specifikt område och därefter har vi en Q&A session. Ämnena kommer att variera från att vara av övergripande natur till en mer djupare teknisk karaktär.

Det första tillfället kommer handla om nyheter i Lync 2013 och hålls hålls den 23 april, kl 13.00-14.00.

Vi tar gärna emot förslag på ämnen för kommande tillfällen. Skicka era förslag till Arifur Rahman.

Create a out of office board to show what people are on vaccation or called in sick #Exchange #Lync #Office365

This will be kind of hard to grasp for the rest of the world, but in July every year the entire country of Sweden is CLOSED!! I mean some shops are open but there is no real work being done in the offices, everyone is on holiday in Spain or something. I even had to walk like 30 minutes today to find a lunch restaurant that was open. I personally think this is insane, since its crazy cold and dark in December and like to go away on my holidays then and work in July when it’s warm and the sun is at least a bit alive.

Anyway, just a short tip from one of my customers on their setup on how they handle employees that call in sick and are on holiday.

Well it’s really simple, just call in to the Exchange 2010 Outlook Voice Access and set your out of facility message (or just set it via OWA or Outlook)

 

Then create an Out of Office Board by following this great post

I’m holding a new Lab at labcenter on how you can integrate the different mobile platforms that we are using everyday to connect to our workplaces remotely from. How can we manage these mobile endpoints and how can we do it securely.

Detta är labben för dig som vill utvärdera och integrera de nya mobila plattformarna i din it-miljö.
Under tre intensiva dagar går vi igenom de hetaste mobila plattformarna som bland annat Apple iOS4, Windows Phone 7 och Android. Vi tittar också på hur de gamla plattformarna passar in tillsammans med de nya i ditt företags it-miljö.

Plantronics has an iphone app that shows off their products while you are on the go. But the fun thing with this app is that it is also has some “Sound diagnostics” which basically is a Noise meter that tells you the current noise level in db

The sound diagnostics provides an easy way to measure audio volumes in your environment. This app shows the approximate dB level, providing relative and approximate values as microphone sensitivities vary. It is an educational application, meant solely for educational and entertainment uses and not for any professional dB measurement.
Please note that this application requires an external microphone for use with the iPod Touch.
An approximate guide to decibel level safety:
150-160 = Eardrum rupture
140 = Aircraft carrier deck
130 = Jet take-off (100 meters), gun blast at close range
120 = Human pain threshold, loud rock concert
110 = Serious hearing damage if sustained for more than 1 hour
100 = Serious hearing damage if sustained for more than 8 hours
90 = Likely hearing damage if sustained for more than 8 hours
80 = Potential but unlikely hearing damage if sustained for more than 8 hours
70 = Just annoying, but probably safe
60 = Typical conversational volume
50 = A quiet, library conversation
40 = A whisper
30 = Barely audible sound
20 = Threshold of human hearing
