A Colleague wanted to log in to a almost newly installed Exchange 2010 server, but he couldn’t log in. I had no problems login in or out but new users couldn’t.
The error message was saying, The User Profile Service service failed to logon. User profile cannot be loaded and he couldn’t log on.
Its actually the second time I see this error in 2 weeks time now so I think its in order with a blog post.
It appears that when a new user profile is being create the default profile want to copy a *.sqm file from
C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Configuration1816_100.sqm to location
C:\Users\newuser\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Configuration1816_100.sqm.
But it can’t because it doesn’t have access to that folder and so the profile creation fails.
Doooh
