OCS 2007 R2 and Windows 2008 R2 Direct Access

Today i had the chance to play around with Direct Access and OCS 2007 R2 and i did not get it to work and from what i understand it shouldn’t. OCS 2007 R2 does not support IPV6 and Communicator does not even try ipv6 when doing the dns query.

So a workaround is to use the edge server and come in from the internet.

I have tried to find some info regarding this on the internet but there is not so much out there so if anyone have any experience around the topic please leave a comment.

A comment from randy that i think i should include in the post.

Randy Wintle says:

The ocs team will actually probably recommend using the edge. IPSEC can be a burden on the voice capabilities of OCS, so you are better off seperating any communicator traffic from using the direct access connection and going over the edge interface.

May sound strange, but really thats the best way to go
